It has been hard to miss the fact that the days are getting that little bit longer, and the temperatures a little warmer, in recent weeks. With the sun shining a touch more frequently, and the first sightings of daffodils here and there, there’s no doubt that spring is in the air.
All this means that now is a great time to sell your home, as buyers are more active through the spring months than any other time of the year. We’ve put together a few tips to help you make the most of the opportunity presented by the changing of the seasons.
1) Spring cleaning counts
Spring cleaning is a tradition for a reason – there’s often plenty to do after the long winter months!
Perhaps you’ve still got some clutter left over from Christmas, or you’ve just not yet got around to giving your home a thorough going-over. Clear out anything you don’t need, so that it is easier to tidy up before viewings. Wash your windows and doors inside and out, so that they sparkle. 2) Don’t neglect your outdoor spaces

4) Accessorise to the max
Following the same theme, adding a few accessories will also help to improve the overall presentation of your property. You can align these to the spring by choosing soft colours to lighten up your rooms.
Throws and cushions, as well as bed linen and towels, are easy to change and can create a perfect spring ambiance to impress your potential buyers. You can also take these with you when you move, so you can recreate the atmosphere in your new home.
Just be careful not to overdo the accessories – less can sometimes be more, and it is important not to make your home appear cluttered.
5) Smells like a good deal
Research has shown that buyers take an average of just eight minutes to decide whether they would buy a property or not, so it’s important to make the perfect first impression.
Ensuring your property smells fresh will help to create this impression. Following tip three and filling your home with flowers is an excellent start, but there are other ways you can do this too.
A scented candle or two placed throughout your home can help to create the right atmosphere, while putting some bread in the oven also fills your home with a pleasant smell which creates a homely and welcoming feel.
Regardless of how you make your property smell good, you should make sure that you air your home properly before viewings.
