A recent trend in the property market has been the advent of build-to-rent developments. These developments are intended to tackle the reduced supply of rental property, which is causing the consistent price increases being experienced by the current market.
These developments are exciting news for renters. Not only are these properties helping to slow rising rent prices, they are also specifically designed with renters in mind – meaning that they tend to have convenient facilities on-site to suit the lifestyles of their residents.
In our recent market update, we mentioned that two of these new developments have become available within our patch, and in this piece we will take the opportunity to explore them in more detail.
The first of our two developments is Greenford Quay, set on the banks of the Grand Union Canal.
When the development is complete, Greenford Quay will be London’s largest rental community, and has the facilities to match this status. A variety of cafes, restaurants and bars are set to open within the development, while residents will have access to exclusive facilities – including a gym and massage room, games room, lounges and meeting rooms. Residents will also be able to take advantage of communal gardens and a roof terrace within the development.
The apartments themselves are of the highest specification, featuring smart fitted kitchens, elegant modern bathrooms and well-proportioned living spaces. Apartments ranging in size from studios to three-bedroom properties are available, and some of these benefit from balconies and views over the canal.
Greenford Quay is ideally placed for renters working in the city centre, as both Greenford and Sudbury Hill Harrow stations are located within walking distance and provide fast connections into Zone One. Residents can also access Westfield in under twenty minutes, and Heathrow in under an hour. Closer to home, shoppers can reach Westway Cross Retail Park moments away on the other side of the canal.

The second development is Charter Place, located in the heart of Hounslow town centre.
Like Greenford Quay, Charter Place offers residents access to communal facilities, including a concierge, podium gardens, a gym, lounge, dining rooms and co-working spaces. Hounslow’s range of amenities surround the development, including shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as banks, pharmacies and post offices. The Treaty Centre is also within walking distance, offering a further selection of high-street outlets.
Here, too, the apartments are of an excellent standard, and include luxurious tiled bathrooms, stylish fully fitted kitchens and open-plan living arrangements. A variety of layouts are available, including studios as well as one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.
Charter Place is more suited to renters working around Heathrow, which can be accessed in fifteen minutes from Hounslow East Underground station moments from the development. Commuters heading into Central London can reach Victoria and Waterloo in less than 45 minutes, while bus connections along the London Road offer alternative routes to more local destinations.
