This year we continued our company tradition of visiting the children's ward at West Middlesex University Hospital to spread a little Christmas cheer amongst the families forced to spend the festive period in hospital.
From helpless and tiny four week old babies to chatty but bed-bound teenagers, it was sad to see so many poorly children, but incredibly heart-warming to see the fantastic level of care given to them by the staff on the ward.
We made two visits to the ward, once with presents for older children, including some educational anatomy toys, and a second time with toys and clothes for babies. The twelve Thorgills staff who took part found the experience humbling and insightful.
We were delighted to receive the following thank you note from the family of one patient:
"Thank you very much for the opthalmology set. Today my daughter received it at West Middlesex University Hospital and she was very happy. She has also gone through it with her ward teacher Dave who gave her a nice lesson on eyes and she learnt lot of new things. Thanks for such a nice interesting and informative gift."
A big thank you from Thorgills to the staff, patients and families in the Starlight Ward for welcoming us. Merry Christmas!
