At Thorgills we are always seeking opportunities to give back to the local community. Over the past few years members of our team have taken part in a number of fundraising events including runs, bungee jumps and sky diving. Not only have these events seen us raise money for national charities such as Macmillan Cancer support but also more local charities.
In addition to the sponsored challenges we embark upon during the year to raise financial aid, we have realised that one of the greatest gifts you can give people is time. Over the next 12 months, we will be aiming to 'give back' to people in need by contributing to local charities or the community in a collection of monthly events. We not only aim to contribute financially to our chosen charities but also involve our team in a variety of volunteering opportunities.
On the 18th December 2015, all members of the team donated £10 to wear their Christmas jumpers to work. With the donations we purchased toys, which were delivered to children at West Middlesex Paediatric Ward in Isleworth. Not only did this put a smile on the faces of the children who were unfortunately in hospital during the Christmas period, but touched the hearts of those who visited.
In January 2016, Thorgills organised and held an event at Ealing Soup Kitchen. Their Friday hub is a place where the homeless and vulnerable can receive help with applying for accommodation, filling in benefit forms, receive a haircut and collect donated clothes. On Friday 29th January 2016, 5 members of the team attended and served hot dogs to all the hubs guests and organised games of bingo. We had bought so many prizes for the bingo winners that we were able to give each guest a gift at the end of the day.
If you would like to make a donation to any of the charities mentioned or if you are part of a charity and are interested in partnering with Thorgills then we would love to hear from you. Please contact email@example.com for further information.
