In the words of the great Ebenezer Scrooge, 'Bah, humbug!' Well, I guess that's what you were expecting anyway, the standard response from Letting agents at this time of year, as the market wraps up for the Christmas Break. I am pleased to inform you that our 'bah, humbug' was simply an attention grabbing start, and in fact we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Normally, this would be the time of year when we can look back at our achievements over the past twelve months, and start to look at future development and planning for 2012. Surprisingly, we are struggling to find the time, this year the market simply hasn't slowed down. Tenant demand continues to rise year on year, and landlords are doing their upmost to make their properties available. All in all we are pretty darn pleased; in a business when the last two months of the year are regarded as your 'kipper season' we haven't been able to do much 'kipping'. 

We know 2011 has been a tough year for everyone, but I want to take this opportunity to thank the entire Thorgills team for their continued hard work, professionalism and customer service. Without the right team in place we would simply slip in to the lettings agent stereo type, charging too much and offering very little in return. I am pleased to boast to a certain extent, that our customer feedback has been fantastic throughout 2011, and we have retained record levels of clients as well as recommendations.

For all you social media gurus, you'll be pleased to know that 2011 has seen Thorgills dive headfirst into the online pool of mystery that is Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. And like everyone jumping in head first, we caused a bit of a splash, struggling a little at first, but are now comfortably swimming. You might even say we're performing some sort of synchronised swimming, boasting a Facebook group with over 1000 likes, an ever growing following on Twitter, and now showcasing our properties with videos on Youtube! We have also invested in a brand new, ultra high tech website which has recently been listed by Nibbler (The webs website testing and comparison site) as being in its top 50 of tested sites in the world. Not to forget we are also about to go 'mobile' with a new mobile website, making access to Thorgills much easier and more accessible from any smart phone, iphone or blackberry device. All in all I would have to say we must be close to leading the pack when it comes to our online offering.

2012 is set to see further growth from Thorgills. To continue to drive our customer service beliefs forward, and to gear up for the busy year ahead we are currently recruiting for three full time lettings negotiators, so if you think you have what it takes, then please get in touch. As West London's premier lettings specialist, from the New Year we will be offering Landlords new short term let incentives, as well as incentives to use Thorgills for full property management, as we have experienced huge increases in the number of tenants making specific enquiries for these services.

As for 2012 and what we predict the market will do, I am afraid our crystal ball has had to be sent back to the manufacturers. We have found that there are lots of agents out there using them and they seem to be somewhat faulty. We would rather tell you what we do know, 2011 was a record breaking year for Thorgills, tenant demand increased significantly, rental prices have risen, and Landlords are certainly doing their upmost to grow their portfolios. That said, as always we would err on the side of caution and recommend speaking with a member of the team at Thorgills before making any property based decisions.
